SENKO Expands Transport Business in Australia – Local company specializing in high value and project cargo transportation joins SENKO Group

SENKO Group Holdings Co., Ltd. (Head office: Koto-ku, Tokyo; President: Yasuhisa Fukuda; “SENKO Group”) has entered into an agreement to acquire 75% of the shares of Simon Transport Pty. Ltd. (Head office: Queensland, Australia; CEO: David Simon; “Simon National Carriers”), which operates transportation and warehousing businesses for freight such as heavy cargo and special large-scale cargo in Australia, and plans to welcome it to the group at the end of February (subject to satisfaction of applicable conditions including Australian foreign investment approval).

Australia has posted positive economic growth since 1992, and with the population increasing due to a high birth rate and immigration policies, the economy is anticipated to continue growing into the future. Simon National Carriers is a long-established company with a 98-year history involved in land and rail transportation as well as warehousing business, and offers a high-quality logistics services with proven track record serving Japanese companies and major global corporations.

After SENKO Group established Senko Logistics Australia Pty. Ltd. (Head office: New South Wales, Australia; President: Keisuke Sugihara) in 2010, it welcomed precision machinery and automotive component transportation operator AirRoad Pty., Ltd. (Head office: New South Wales, Australia; President: Malcolm Thorpe) into the Group in 2021, as part of efforts to expand the 3PL business.

With Simon National Carriers becoming a member, the SENKO Group is focusing on further expanding business by leveraging the know-how and networking capabilities that Simon National Carriers possesses with heavy and specialized cargo transportation. The SENKO Group will also be looking to secure new customers, not only in Australia but on a global scale, by harnessing its forwarding know-how.
